I’m originally from Finday, Ohio and came to Charleston in 2002 and earned my Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University. Along with my Associate’s Degree, I’ve earned my Pastry Arts Certificate from The Culinary Institute of Charleston. My culinary experience includes several different restaurants, such as The Meritage, Kaminski’s Café and The Oak Steakhouse, where I served as head pastry chef. I have catered to a large and managed a bakery for Publix Supermarkets. I have learned with the variety of jobs, the most important being, which food makes people very happy. My heart is filled with joy when I can help accommodate someone to make their special event come to life. An ironic part of my love for food is that I am a fitness competitor. It requires extreme discipline and focus in regards to food as well as physical training. I earned my professional card in 2008 and hope to compete in the future.

I have been designing cakes since 1998 and have learned mostly from self taught methods and on the job training from other designers in different bakeries. I do not have any professional experience in the culinary, but I do have a Bachelor’s in Business from North Greenville College, where I was a scholar athlete. I consider myself a natural and quick leaner of the cake decorating skill. Besides designing cakes, I enjoy spending time with family and playing softball. I have played on the collegiate level and have traveled all over. I also coach at my local high school and recreation department. It feels so good to teach these young girls the game of softball so they can use it to the best of their ability.
